Our Story
Mission
Our mission is to build a unified network of funeral service professionals to share support, guidance, education, and resources by relighting the torch in the funeral service industry with the next generation of funeral service providers.
Vision
As a member of the Funeral Service Providers Association, together we unify our voice to enhance the funeral service industry to the benefit of those that provide end of life services.
Value
The Funeral Service Providers Association believe that together we can support each other’s business; share our resources; and provide guidance and education to those who are entering the profession or continuing their education, while maintaining our professionalism and respect for those that operate in funeral service industry.
Tionya Chanel Spriggs
PRESIDENT
Tionya Chanel Spriggs serves as the President of the Funeral Service Providers Association, Inc. Tionya is a Chicago, Illinois native and a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. She currently serves as the Program Director of Malcolm X College Mortuary Science Program, and as co-owner of Boyd Funeral Service, LLC with her husband Nate Boyd.
D’Angelo Smith
VICE-PRESIDENT
D’Angelo Smith serves as the Vice-President of the Funeral Service Providers Association, Inc. D’Angelo is a Chicago, Illinois native that has been operating in the funeral industry since 2003. D’Angelo and his wife Breisha are the owners of C. Destiny Smith and Carter Funeral Home located at 1941 West Cermak Chicago, Illinois 60608.
Gerald Cannon
TREASURER
Gerald Cannon serves as the Treasurer of the Funeral Service Providers Association, Inc. Gerald is a Chicago, Illinois native that has been operating in the funeral industry since 1990. Gerald is the owner of I.J. Cannon Funeral Home located at 1001 Madison St. Maywood, Illinois 60153.
Kreshauna Brooks-Rogers
DIRECTOR OF BEREAVEMENT
Kreshauna Brooks-Rogers serves as the Director of Bereavement for the Funeral Service Providers Association, Inc. Kreshauna is a Chicago, Illinois native that has been operating in the funeral industry since she was a child, creating make-shift headstones for dead animals. Kreshauna graduated from Malcolm X College in 2004. She is the owner of Brooks Memorial Chapel.
Paris McFarland
DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY
Paris McFarland serves as the Director of Philanthropy for the Funeral Service Providers Association, Inc. Paris is a South Suburban Chicago, Illinois native that has been operating in the funeral industry since 2013. Paris started McFarland Funeral Services located at 4100 Maple Avenue, Richton Park, Illinois 60471.
Valeria Diane Derden
DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
Valeria Diane Derden serves as the Director of Education for the Funeral Service Providers Association Inc. Val is a Westside Chicago, Illinois native, that has been operating in the funeral service industry since 2015. Val graduated from Malcolm X College in 2017. Val started Derden Funeral Service in 2022.
Drew Carlyle
SERGEANT AT ARMS
Nathaniel Boyd serves as the Sergeant at Arms for the Funeral Service Providers Association, Inc. Nate is a Westside Chicago, Illinois native, that has been operating in the funeral service industry since 2015. Together, Nate and his wife Tionya are the owners of Boyd Funeral Service, LLC.
